Gunnison Beach, Sandy Hook, New Jersey

Gunnison Beach could be the largest, most popular and most firmly established nude beach on the east coast of the United states. It is situated on a park system on a peninsula called, Sandy Hook. It is in the north/east corner of the state of New Jersey and juts several miles north toward the New York Harbor. Thousands flock there on hot summer days. Gunnison has been officially recognized as a clothing optional beach by the authorities for several decades. This beach is expansive, windy, very sandy and fills up with a lively bunch of mixed people from all walks of life.

Directions: Get a map and find Sandy Hook. Once inside the park, drive to area G which gives you the closest access to Gunnison Beach. Not all the beaches at Sandy Hook are nude. You must use the designated area at Gunnison. If that lot is full, you must go to an overflow lot and walk a greater distance. Take the boardwalk to the beach and you're there! History/Status: Established for a long time. Security and Lifeguards are provided Environment: It can be Windy. The water can be cold. There can be a lot of people. Facilities: Snack Bar, Toilets, Change Rooms, volleyball court Parking: You must arrive by 9 or 10 in the morning to get a parking spot close to the beach. There is plenty of parking but you might have to walk and extra 15 minutes or so. Accommodation: Nothing right there.
