| Directions:
From San Francisco, take California Highway 1 north to Olema. Go to the 'Bear Valley Info Center' for a map. There are many trails and 4 major trailheads that will lead you to acres
of some of the most scenic coastal land where you can be free! It is a 2 mile hike to the nearest beach and 6 miles to the more secluded beaches.
|
Environment:The beaches can be very warm on a windless winter day and even nicer on a
sunny windless summer day. The wind can also be very cold winter or summer.
These photos were taken in December and it was quite warm.
Watch out for ticks as you venture
in the woods and coastal brush. 'Poison Oak' is also very plentiful on many
trails. On windy days, look for
sheltered spots or you could ruin your eyes, skin, and camera!
|
History/Status: These beaches have always seen some nude use.
Facilities: Over-night camping is available by permit and you must backpack, bike,
or ride a horse to all the campsites. Take out everything you bring in! Make sure you have plenty of drinking water.
|
Parking: The park provides parking areas, but you have hours of walking to get to Alamere Falls.
Accommodation: There is nothing in the immediate area.
