| Directions:
From the I-101 highway, just a bit north of the Golden Gate Bridge, there is an exit to the coastal highway 1. A pleasant meandering drive will get you to the ocean in less than a half hour even if you are stuck behind a lumbering truck. You may see signs saying you are on the way to Stinson Beach -- this is the large textile beach further along Highway 1. At milepost 5.7 is the entrance to Muir Beach.

Environment:When it is too windy on other beaches it may be tolerable here. The water is good for swimming but may you may find it too cold until later in the summer.
Facilities: Washrooms at the south end of the parking lot.

History/Status: The clothing-optional status is established.
Parking: The beach has a big parking lot but it may fill on sunny weekends.
Accommodation: You may find something near Stinson Beach a few miles to the north.
