The World Nude Beaches Guide with Photos

WORLD / NORTH AMERICA

Report by Coccozella

Is the party atmosphere of Baker Beach not to your taste? Jump in a car and drive for a good half hour to the more peaceful Muir Beach. The sizable cove is mostly a regular public beach, but at the north end, just past a small barrier of rocks is a smaller cove which is clothing-optional. It is a contained but pleasant sandy beach protected somewhat from the elements. Overlooking, but set back from the beach is community of homes which discourages the possibility of visiting gawkers.

Directions: From the I-101 highway, just a bit north of the Golden Gate Bridge, there is an exit to the coastal highway 1. A pleasant meandering drive will get you to the ocean in less than a half hour even if you are stuck behind a lumbering truck. You may see signs saying you are on the way to Stinson Beach -- this is the large textile beach further along Highway 1. At milepost 5.7 is the entrance to Muir Beach. Environment:When it is too windy on other beaches it may be tolerable here. The water is good for swimming but may you may find it too cold until later in the summer.

Facilities: Washrooms at the south end of the parking lot.

History/Status: The clothing-optional status is established.

Parking: The beach has a big parking lot but it may fill on sunny weekends. Accommodation: You may find something near Stinson Beach a few miles to the north.
