Morro del Jable Beach

Report by Angelita. In the south of Fuerteventura, the more civilized area to visit is Morro del Jable, where there are pleanty of nice hotels and even a genuine little Canarian town. You can make trips up the east coast to visit the endless and fabulous Sotavento Beach. But you need not go far to find nice beaches in Morro del Jable. They are everywhere and you can shed your clothes just about anywhere, even just a few hundred yards from the hotels. It may be surprising to find people sunbathing naked right next to a public walk, but nobody minds. I recommend you avoid the tourist developments in the neighbourhood of the airport. The west side of the peninsula of Jandia is beautiful, too, but difficult to get to because of the roads (if you can call them that) and the west side is very windy and bathing is not safe there. So make it an excursion only.

Directions: The ideal beaches will be found up along the east coast from Morro del Jable. That is where Sotavento Beach begins. You can take a public bus and walk down a stony road to the beach or rent your own car, car rental is very cheap in the Canaries. Most people who go there bring their lunch and spend the whole day on the beach. History/Status: These beaches, and in fact most of the island has a high degree of acceptance for nudity. Accommodation: There are many hotels in Morro del Jable.
